Crank Balanced Pumping Unit
GENERAL FEATURES
- Beam pumping or the sucker-rod lift method, is the oldest and widely used type of artificial lift for most wells. It is made up of several components, some of which operate above ground and other parts of which operate underground, down in the well.
- Conventional Crank Balanced Pumping Unit is the surface-pumping unit which drives the underground pump. It consists of a prime mover (usually electric motor) and a beam fixed to a pivotal post. The post is called Sampson Post, and the beam is normally called a walking beam.
- This system allows the beam to rock back and forth, moving the downhole components up and down in the process. The entire surface system is run by a prime mover-belt drives and a gear-box with a crank mechanism on it.
- API has standardized the design, terminology, and many components esed for pumping units in API Spec 11E.Main components are structure and gear-reducer.
- The pumping units is described as its reducer rating ,maximum structural capacity ,and maximum stroke length.
